Our love for the Camino – and why MyCamino.shop came about from it
Share
The Camino de Santiago is so much more than just a hiking trail. For many people – and for us too – it's a journey to oneself. A journey full of encounters, emotions, nature, and unforgettable moments. It was precisely this experience that gave rise to our shop, MyCamino.shop.
Our Camino: The Portuguese Way from Porto
Our own pilgrimage began in Porto on the Portuguese Way. From there, we initially followed the beautiful coastal route (Coastal/Litoral).
These stages along the Atlantic coast are among the most impressive sections of the Camino de Santiago: The sound of the sea, endless wooden boardwalks along the dunes, small fishing villages, and the ever-present view of the Atlantic - this makes this route truly special.
The path leads through charming towns like Vila do Conde and Esposende before crossing the Minho/Miño River into Spain at Caminha and continuing the pilgrimage towards Santiago de Compostela.
The Special Variant: Camino Espiritual
An absolute highlight of our journey was the Espiritual Variant. This alternative route leads from Pontevedra via Combarro and Armenteira through stunning landscapes, past monasteries and ancient pilgrim paths. The so-called "Ruta da Pedra e da Auga" (Path of Stones and Water) is particularly impressive, a path along old mills and waterways – creating an almost mystical atmosphere.
At the end of this variant comes a very special stage: The boat trip across the Ría de Arousa to Padrón, which symbolically retraces the path of the Apostle James.
For many pilgrims, this stage is one of the most emotional moments of the entire Camino.
Spain and Galicia – A Love That Endures
Anyone who has hiked through northern Spain quickly understands why the Camino calls so many people back time and again. We love Spain - and especially Galicia. This region has something magical about it:
- verdant landscapes
- quaint villages
- centuries-old churches
- pilgrimage routes paved with stone
- its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean
And, of course, the incredible cuisine.
Whether it's octopus à feira, fresh bread, empanadas, or a glass of Albariño after a long day's walk – food is simply an integral part of the Camino. It's part of the culture, part of the encounters, and part of the memories.
Our experiences on the Camino
Our journey from Porto, along the Coastal Route and the Spiritual Variant, to Santiago de Compostela has left a lasting impression on us.
We share many of our experiences, encounters, and stage reports on our blog: https://unsercamino.blog
There, we recount our experiences on the Camino in detail. We also take you along on our journey on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@unsercamino There, you can experience the Camino step by step with us.
Why we founded MyCamino.shop
After our return, one thing was clear to us: The Camino never lets you go. The memories remain. The longing for Spain remains. And the desire to take a piece of this special feeling into everyday life. That's exactly how MyCamino.shop came about. We wanted to create products that reflect the spirit of the Camino - for people who have walked the path or want to walk it.
Our designs - Camino Classic, Camino Soul & Camino Humor
In our shop, you'll find designs that celebrate the Camino de Santiago in different ways:
Classic Camino Motifs
The famous scallop shell symbol, yellow arrows, or minimalist pilgrim designs-motifs that every Camino pilgrim instantly recognizes.
Camino Soul
Designs that capture the feeling of the Camino:
freedom, encounters, simplicity, and the special peace of pilgrimage.
Camino Humor
Because anyone who has walked the Camino knows: Humor is essential. Blisters, spontaneous hostel experiences, or the eternal question: "How many more kilometers?" Pilgrims immediately recognize themselves in these.
The Camino Never Truly Ends Many pilgrims say: The Camino begins long before the first step— and never truly ends. For us, that's absolutely true. The Camino lives on in memories, conversations, photos-and perhaps also in a shirt or hoodie that reminds us of it every day.
That's exactly why MyCamino.shop exists. A little piece of the Camino for everyday life.
Buen Camino 💛
